In the Hill District of Pittsburgh on a Tuesday evening in late March of 2011, a young man’s life was abruptly cut short. Twenty-year-old Lincoln Larue, a male from the nearby community of Duquesne, had been visiting a friend. Shortly after leaving his friend's home on Perry Street, the sound of a gunshot pierced the night.
Around 7 p.m. on March 29th, Larue was discovered lying in the middle of Perry Street. He had been shot in the head.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but there was nothing that could be done. The initial investigation by city homicide detectives sought to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement appealed to the public for any information that might shed light on the circumstances of Larue's death. Investigators worked to uncover a motive for the shooting and to identify who was responsible. However, in the days that followed, no arrests were made, and no suspects were publicly identified in connection with the homicide.
