In the winter of 2014, the life of a young Black man from the North Side of Pittsburgh was tragically cut short. On December 9th, 22-year-old Dewayne Henley was at a home in the 900 block of Woodlow Street in the city's Crafton Heights neighborhood when he was fatally shot in the chest. Despite his injuries, he managed to flee the residence, running for a block before collapsing.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Henley to UPMC Mercy Hospital.
Tragically, he succumbed to his gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The promising life of the young man was over, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
In the aftermath of the shooting, an investigation was launched to bring those responsible to justice. However, the case has proven to be a difficult one to solve. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Dewayne Henley, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation into his death remains ongoing, a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the community.
