Kiesha Jenkins, a 22-year-old transgender woman, was tragically killed on October 6, 2015, in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia, PA. Jenkins was assaulted by a group of at least five men after being dropped off on Wingohocking Street near 13th around 2:30 a.m. The attackers beat her, and when she fell to the ground, one of them shot her twice in the back. The police initially did not classify the incident as a hate crime, suggesting it might have been a robbery.
