On the morning of Monday, June 19, 2017, a 27-year-old Black/African American male named Kenyon Childs was found lying in the street on the 1300 block of Bridge Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 11:00 a.m. and discovered that Childs had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and torso.
Paramedics arrived and confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities believe a single gunman was responsible for the shooting. A suspect was described as a Black male who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was reportedly last seen running down an alley in the 5300 block after the incident.
As of the latest available information, the case remains an unsolved murder, and the Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public to bring closure to the case. Childs resided on Castor Avenue in Philadelphia at the time of his death.
