On a Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2022, a burst of violence shattered the weekend peace in a Reading, Pennsylvania, shopping center parking lot. Emmanuel Negrón, a 36-year-old man, was in the parking lot of the Reading Plaza Super Market, located at North 6th Street and Greenwich Street, when he was shot. First responders were called to the scene at approximately 1:45 p.m. and found Mr. Negrón with a gunshot wound.
