On a late Saturday night in Philadelphia, the course of many lives was irrevocably altered. It was September 24, 2022, on the 5500 block of Pemberton Street, when gunfire shattered the evening's calm. In the ensuing chaos, two individuals were struck by the hail of bullets. One of these was Charles Aaron Bingham, a 26-year-old Black male who resided on Walton Avenue.
Private transportation rushed both victims to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital-Cedar Campus.
Bingham, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was in a dire state. Medical personnel quickly transferred him to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center for more intensive care. Despite their efforts, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim, a 34-year-old male who had been shot in the chest, was also transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and was admitted in critical condition.
In the wake of the shooting, the Philadelphia Police Department opened an investigation into the death of Charles Aaron Bingham. However, the case has remained unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. The police have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case, hoping that a crucial tip could provide the answers his family and community are desperately seeking.
