In the late morning of a Monday in October 2019, the sounds of gunfire shattered the autumn calm on the 500 block of Somerset Street in Philadelphia. When the echoes faded, 21-year-old Naire Hill, a Black male, was left lying on the pavement, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident, which also wounded a second individual, unfolded at approximately 10:36 a.m.
on October 14th.
Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene and found both victims in dire need of medical attention. They were quickly transported to Temple University Hospital. For two days, Naire Hill fought for his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe. He succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, leaving a family and a community to mourn his sudden and violent death. Hill was a resident of the 2700 block of North Darien Street in Philadelphia.
In the aftermath of the shooting, an investigation was launched by the Philadelphia Police Department. However, the case has grown cold over time, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Naire Hill. The identity of the person or persons responsible for his death remains unknown. Detectives continue to seek information from the public, hoping that a crucial tip will lead to a breakthrough in the case and bring a measure of justice to Hill's loved ones. The motive for the shooting has not been released.
