James Marion Sing, a 28-year-old police officer with the Wadesboro Police Department in North Carolina, tragically lost his life on July 20, 1910. Officer Sing was shot and killed while performing his duties. He had arrested a suspect for drinking in public and discharging a firearm on a public street. While escorting the suspect to jail, one of the suspect's friends approached them and fatally shot Officer Sing. The suspect was identified but was never apprehended.
