On July 16, 2023, at approximately 2:16 a.m., officers from the Wadesboro Police Department responded to Atrium Health Anson, where 26-year-old Randal Vontray Sturdivant Jr. had arrived with a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Sturdivant was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
