Mark Boyd II, a 32-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity from Islip, New York, was tragically shot and killed on September 25, 2014, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Boyd was planning a cross-country bicycle trip from Florida to California when he encountered Carlos Jacob Engle and Deshavonte Kemp. Engle and Kemp offered Boyd a place to stay for the night, but instead drove him to a secluded area where he was shot and robbed of his bike and camping gear.
