Luis Bravo, a 16-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on July 20, 2018, in Wilson, North Carolina. The incident occurred at a Speedway gas station on Freeman Street, where Luis was found with gunshot wounds. Despite paramedics' efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Luis Bravo's death led to the arrest of six individuals, including five young men and a 15-year-old. The suspects were identified as Jahkil Jones, 18, Keydrick R.
Parker, 18, Corey Williams Jr., 17, Shyheim Smiles, 18, and Shaiheim R. Murray, 16, all of whom were charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and attempted armed robbery. The 15-year-old suspect was also charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
The case revealed that the suspects had planned to rob Luis Bravo, who was known to them as a neighbor and a fellow resident of Freeman Street. On the day of the incident, the suspects spotted Luis walking to a nearby convenience store and decided to rob him, believing he had money from working in the fields. During the attempted robbery, Luis was shot and killed by the suspects.
In the subsequent legal proceedings, several of the suspects were sentenced to prison. Jah’marion Fleming, one of the suspects, was sentenced to 16-20 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. Keydrick R. Parker, who also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, received a sentence of 20-25 years in prison. Other suspects, including Garry De’Andre Harris, Jahkil Jones, and Shyheim Smiles, received varying sentences for their roles in the crime.
