In the spring of 2024, a life was tragically cut short in Monroe, Louisiana. Dominic O’Shay Dickens Dome, a 23-year-old Black man, was killed on the evening of April 13th. Better known to some as 'Dome,' Dickens was also a local rapper who went by the name “Glizzy 5.” The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded at a residence on South 6th Street.
Reports from the Monroe Police Department indicate that a heated argument over a vehicle repair dispute escalated into a violent
and fatal altercation. The dispute was between Dickens and an associate, Johntae “Monte” Lee. The confrontation reached a devastating climax when both men fatally shot each other. Both Dickens and Lee succumbed to their gunshot wounds at the scene, marking a grim conclusion to their disagreement.
In the aftermath of the double homicide, the Monroe Police Department launched an investigation into the events that transpired. However, with both individuals involved in the altercation deceased, the primary suspect in Dickens' death was also the other victim. Consequently, no arrests were made in connection with his death. The community was left to mourn the loss of two lives, with funeral services for Dickens held on April 27, 2024, at the Greater Free Gift Baptist Church. The residence on South 6th Street would become the scene of another incident involving gunfire just three days after the double homicide, though no injuries were reported in the subsequent event.
