On October 21, 2023, 14-year-old African American male Dontavius Wilson was fatally shot during a mass shooting at a block party in Monroe, Louisiana. The event occurred on Renwick Street following the Carroll High School Homecoming game. Automatic weapons were fired into the crowd, resulting in the death of Dontavius and injuries to at least five other attendees.
