In the summer of 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm on South Third Street in Monroe, Louisiana, leaving two young men dead and a community searching for answers. One of the victims was Deanjello Parson, a 19-year-old African American male. On that fateful day, July 30, 2015, Parson and another man, 24-year-old Cameron Mahoney, were fatally wounded in what authorities described as a double homicide.
