James Mercer Sr., a 36-year-old African American male from Monroe, Louisiana, tragically died on July 18, 2019. His death was the result of a violent altercation that stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong. According to reports, Mercer was found shot in the head and with lacerations on the back of his head in the backyard of a home on Flynn Street.
