On a February night in 2021, a gathering at a house party on South Eighth Street in Monroe, Louisiana, took a tragic and fatal turn, ending the life of 29-year-old Reginald Copning. What began as a social event devolved into a dispute over a pack of cigarettes, a disagreement that would ultimately lead to a chase and a single, fatal gunshot.
