In the early morning hours of February 10, 2025, the quiet of a Jackson, Mississippi neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunfire. When Capitol Police responded to a call at approximately 1:20 a.m., they discovered a grim scene on Bailey Avenue near Idlewild Street. There, they found the body of 57-year-old Jeffery King, a male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking another homicide in the city.
