On March 17, 2005, Jackson Police Department Patrolman Thomas Catchings, a nine-year veteran of the force, was returning home from motorcycle training when his path crossed with a violent crime in progress. A citizen flagged him down at the intersection of Robinson Road and Pecan Park Circle, reporting that they had just been carjacked.
