In the late summer of 2016, a morning of violence in Jackson, Mississippi, claimed the life of Rodney L. Beck. A 50-year-old Black male, Beck was fatally wounded on August 23rd of that year. The sequence of events that day suggests a sudden and desperate attempt to escape his attacker. After being shot once in the arm, Beck managed to get into his vehicle and drive away from the scene of the assault.
