Junius Benton, a 16-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on June 27, 2017, in Monroe, Louisiana. The incident occurred following a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical fight and ultimately resulted in gunfire. The altercation took place in the Robinson Place community, specifically at the corner of Long and Milliken Drive. Benton was shot once and was transported to a local hospital by friends, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
