Jahquez Tyquarion Montreal Fleming, a 16-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on December 16, 2022, in Wilson, North Carolina. The young teenager was found with a gunshot wound on Minchew Street, a location situated between Tuskeegee and Lane streets, just south of U.S. 301 on the southeast side of Wilson. Officers responded to a suspicious person call at 11:45 p.m. that night and discovered Jahquez suffering from the gunshot wound.
He was immediately taken to Wilson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Jahquez was a student at Beddingfield High School, and his untimely death has left a profound impact on his school community. The Wilson County Schools' public relations director, Amber Lynch, mentioned that extra support was provided at Beddingfield High School to help students and staff cope with the loss. Jahquez's mother, Chardeé Sessoms, expressed her heartbreak and described the numb feeling she experienced upon learning about her son's death. She mentioned that Jahquez had been walking home from a friend's house when he was shot.
The Wilson Police Department is investigating Jahquez's death as a homicide. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified. The police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in solving the crime. Jahquez's family, including his father, Shante Fleming, has been actively seeking justice for their son. They have been distributing flyers in the neighborhood where Jahquez was found, hoping that someone might have information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
The family has also received support from Fighting Crime LLC, a group focused on bringing closure to families and solving crimes. The organization is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for any information that could help solve the case and bring justice to Jahquez's family. The investigation remains ongoing, and the Wilson Police Department continues to search for possible suspects.
