On June 21, 2024, at approximately 9:12 p.m., Wilson Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at 1201 Downing Street in Wilson, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Anthony Marquis Barnes suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services pronounced Barnes deceased at the scene. A second victim, 43-year-old Rodney Earl Farmer, was also found with a gunshot wound and was transported to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment.
