Meco Haskins, a 30-year-old man from Shannon, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on December 26, 2018. Haskins was found shot inside a vehicle on the 1200 block of McGoogan Farm Road in Shannon by sheriff’s deputies around 10 p.m. on the night of the incident. He was immediately flown to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office has since been investigating the case as a homicide.
The investigation into Haskins' death has been ongoing, with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office urging anyone with information to come forward. Sheriff Burnis Wilkins made a public plea on Facebook, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need for cooperation from the community. He highlighted that the incident seemed to involve multiple individuals and that it was a miracle that no one else was injured or killed during the shooting. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with Haskins' murder.
Haskins' death has left a significant impact on his family and the community. He was born on December 3, 1988, in Robeson County and was the son of the late Merril Lynn Haskins and Maryann Brooks. He is survived by his girlfriend, Jessica Lowery, and their two daughters, Abrianna Dial and Tayviannah Lowery. Haskins also leaves behind his mother, siblings, and numerous other relatives and friends who mourn his loss.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information that could lead to the resolution of this case. They have asked anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact Lt.
