Jamahri Damonte' Lucas, a 14-year-old African American boy, tragically lost his life on March 21, 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jamahri was found shot in the parking lot of Milburnie Road Apartments. He was transported to WakeMed, where he was pronounced dead. His family described him as a good kid who had unfortunately fallen in with the wrong crowd.
Following the incident, three individuals were arrested in connection with Jamahri's death.
Kenyon Rashan Tuck, 23, was charged with murder, while Alexis Nikol McCullough, 20, was charged with accessory after the fact. Dakwon Desha Covington, 21, was also arrested and charged with murder. The suspects were taken into custody and held at the Wake County Detention Center. Tuck and McCullough appeared in court, with Tuck requesting a court-appointed attorney and McCullough's request for a bond reduction being denied.
The investigation revealed that shots were fired into the building on Sawpit Drive, where Jamahri was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The police circulated the complex and located Jamahri, who was then transported to the hospital. The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed by the authorities. Jamahri's family expressed their grief and frustration, with his mother, Leticia Lucas, stating that he did not deserve to be shot.
