Zion Garcia, a 20-year-old male, was tragically shot and killed on August 21, 2020, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Firelight Lane in east Charlotte. Several individuals were seen fleeing the scene, and despite efforts by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to track the suspects with the assistance of a K-9 unit, they were not immediately apprehended.
Zion was driven to the Valero gas station on Albemarle Road after being shot, where an ambulance picked him up. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The investigation into Zion Garcia's death led to the arrest of multiple suspects. Nyla Burnett, an 18-year-old female, was arrested on August 22, 2020, and charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Jalen Meggett, a 21-year-old male, and Jahmel Williams, a 27-year-old male, were also arrested and charged with the same offenses. Additionally, a juvenile suspect was charged on February 17, 2021, for their involvement in the crime.
The case against the suspects is ongoing, with all four individuals facing serious charges related to the murder of Zion Garcia.
