Johnny Edward Scott, an 18-year-old male, was tragically shot and killed on September 8, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred on West Boulevard in the afternoon. Johnny, along with another victim, was shot at the same location. After being shot, Johnny was driven to the Walmart on Wilkinson Boulevard to seek help. Despite the efforts of a nearby ambulance that responded to the scene and transported him to the hospital, Johnny succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The second victim, who was also taken to the hospital, faced life-threatening injuries.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified 23-year-old Darvon Fletcher as the suspect in Johnny's killing. Fletcher was also injured in the same shooting incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment. CMPD obtained warrants against Fletcher for murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. However, Fletcher died from his injuries before he could be arrested and formally charged. Detectives concluded their investigation into the case following Fletcher's death.
