Aveon Baker, a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on April 20, 2022, near Northlake Mall in Charlotte, NC. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant where Aveon was working. Several suspects were involved in the shooting, and first responders pronounced Aveon dead at the scene.
Following the incident, an 18-year-old named Khamarin Floyd was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Aveon's death.
Khamarin was taken into custody on April 30, 2022. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported that Aveon was found shot just after 8:30 p.m. outside the Wendy's restaurant, and despite life-saving measures, he could not be revived.
Aveon's death has deeply affected his family, friends, and co-workers. His loved ones described him as a hardworking young man who had graduated high school with good grades and was striving to maintain a positive life. Aveon's mother, Antoinette, had also died in a violent incident in 2011, adding to the family's heartache.
