On May 19, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a reported shooting on Julia Avenue in north Charlotte. Upon arrival, they discovered 54-year-old Carl George Brown deceased at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.
The CMPD immediately initiated a homicide investigation to determine the circumstances leading to Brown's death.
Despite thorough efforts, including canvassing the area for witnesses and reviewing available surveillance footage, the investigation did not yield immediate leads or suspects. As a result, no arrests were made in connection with the case.
In the months following the incident, the CMPD continued to pursue all available leads. However, as of December 23, 2024, there have been no significant developments reported publicly regarding arrests or identification of suspects in the shooting death of Carl George Brown.
