Avion Amelle Dingle, a 15-year-old Black male from Charlotte, was shot late on the night of June 26, 2025, inside an apartment complex on Merrick Street near North Tryon. Multiple 911 calls drew officers to the scene around 11:30 p.m., where he was found with fatal gunshot wounds after trying to flee down a second-floor hallway.
