On the night of May 2, 2024, at approximately 10:44 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 5100 block of Hoover Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old James Chambers III suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt response from emergency medical services, Chambers was pronounced dead at the scene.
