On July 18, 2020, Rahim L. Martin-Byrd, a 25-year-old African American male, was found fatally injured in the parking lot of the Woodland Estates Apartment complex in southeast Charlotte, North Carolina. Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 6 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Rahim Martin-Byrd with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
