On July 13, 2014, 27-year-old Rashad Porter was found fatally shot in the roadway on Major Street in Charlotte, North Carolina. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 4:30 a.m. and discovered Porter’s body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Porter was a father of a 2-year-old, and his family, devastated by the loss, placed a memorial of flowers and balloons at the site where he was killed.
