In the festive quiet of Christmas Day 2014, a violent altercation in Lafayette, Louisiana, abruptly ended the life of 23-year-old Wilbert Simon. The young man was shot multiple times in the torso in the 100 block of Elenore Street, and despite the immediate response of Lafayette Police Department officers, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
