In the spring of 2015, the life of a young Black man, Cameron Matthews, was tragically cut short at the age of 20. A resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a former student of Scotlandville High School, Matthews was fatally wounded by gunfire on May 11, 2015. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded on East Grant Street in the city.
