In the early morning hours of Friday, March 19, 2021, a domestic dispute in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragically escalated, leading to the death of 47-year-old Jumal Wells. The male victim was fatally shot at a residence on Vancouver Drive.
Authorities with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the home around 12:20 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Wells had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Witnesses at the scene informed deputies that Wells had been involved in a continuous verbal argument with Joseph Chambers, the 18-year-old son of his girlfriend.
The ongoing conflict culminated in the deadly shooting. Following the incident, law enforcement identified Joseph Chambers as the suspect in the death of his mother's live-in boyfriend.
Chambers was slated to be arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The anticipated charges against him were second-degree murder and the illegal use of a weapon.
