In the early hours of Tuesday, February 27, 2024, a burst of gunfire on North 37th Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ended the lives of two teenagers. One of the victims was 19-year-old Luis Servin, a Black / African American male. The shooting occurred just after midnight, shattering the quiet of the neighborhood.
When police responded to the scene in the 900 block of North 37th Street, they found a chaotic situation.
Servin, though gravely wounded, had managed to flee to a nearby address on North 38th Street. From there, he was rushed to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Luis Servin succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Another young man, 18-year-old D'ontae Bethley, was also killed in the same incident. He was found deceased at the scene. The Baton Rouge Police Department's Homicide Detectives are actively investigating the case as a double homicide.
