In the early morning hours of October 16, 2020, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of 25-year-old Brandon Chatman was tragically cut short. Chatman was discovered on the upstairs walkway of an apartment complex located at 1251 North Ardenwood Drive around 9:35 a.m. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear to investigators as they began their work to piece together the events that led to the young
man's death.
The investigation into the shooting death of Brandon Chatman, a male, led authorities to identify a suspect in the case. Following the initial investigation, the Baton Rouge Police Detectives identified Malecah Demoulin, 22, as the individual allegedly responsible for Chatman's death. The U.S. Marshal's Task Force later located and apprehended Demoulin in the Lake Charles area of Louisiana.
Following his arrest, Malecah Demoulin was transported back to East Baton Rouge Parish. He was booked into the parish prison on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Brandon Chatman. At the time of the arrest announcement on November 4, 2020, law enforcement had not released additional details regarding the circumstances or a potential motive that led to the fatal shooting.
