On an autumn evening in Houma, Louisiana, the life of 36-year-old Willie Hart Jr. was brought to a violent and tragic end. It was October 21, 2015, when Hart, an African American man known to his friends as 'Chill Will,' was fatally shot in what has been described as an execution-style killing. The events of that night unfolded when Hart and his girlfriend arranged to meet 28-year-old Troy Nixon at a residence on Roselawn Avenue with the intention of purchasing ecstasy.
