In the autumn of 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm in a Shreveport, Louisiana neighborhood, tragically ending the life of a young man. Quincy Terrell Randle, a 21-year-old African American male, was fatally wounded on October 28, 2016, in a drive-by shooting. The incident unfolded in the 900 block of Babylon Street, within the Pine Valley section of the Eden Gardens neighborhood. Randle was in the company of other men near a residence shortly before 1 p.m.
when a vehicle, described as a blue or silver colored sedan occupied by several males, approached.
Witnesses reported that multiple armed individuals exited the car and opened fire on the group. In the ensuing chaos, Randle was struck and mortally wounded. Two other men, identified as 21-year-old Michael Cooper and 20-year-old Tamario Jenkins, also sustained injuries but theirs were not life-threatening. Emergency services and private vehicles transported the three victims to University Health hospital for treatment. Tragically, Quincy Randle was pronounced dead upon his arrival.
The Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit launched an immediate and intensive investigation into the homicide. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, including a reward offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Quincy Randle, and the identities of the suspects who fled the scene in the sedan remain unknown. The investigation into this senseless act of violence is officially still open, leaving a family and a community waiting for justice that has yet to be served.
