Simone Veal, a 32-year-old African American woman from Marrero, Louisiana, tragically lost her life on January 20, 2017. Veal, who worked as a laboratory supervisor for an oil company, was killed in a domestic violence incident. Her ex-boyfriend, Sylvester Holt, shot her after learning she was pregnant with another man's child. Veal was eight weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
