On September 24, 2022, a 26-year-old Caucasian woman named Alexxis Eymard was tragically killed in a double homicide in Marrero, Louisiana. Eymard, along with 36-year-old David Sumera, was found fatally shot in the driveway of a residence on Bay Adams Drive. The incident, which occurred around 1:40 p.m., was captured on a neighbor's doorbell camera, which recorded the arrival of a grey truck followed by the sound of three gunshots.

quickly suspected the murders were drug-related, suggesting that Eymard and Sumera were at the location to deliver heroin to the homeowner. Neighbors reported a history of suspicious and drug-related activities at the house where the shooting took place, including prior arrests for attempted murder. The bodies of Eymard and Sumera remained in their vehicle for approximately four hours before being discovered by a resident who then alerted law enforcement.
The investigation led authorities to identify Michael A. Harris, then 33, of Harvey, as the primary suspect in the double murder. Harris was subsequently apprehended in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 16, 2023, by a U.S. Marshals task force. Investigators connected Harris to the crime through surveillance footage showing him leaving the truck after the shootings and DNA evidence found on a cloth he used to cover his face and on the truck's rear passenger door handle. Further evidence, including cell phone records and data from the truck's infotainment system, indicated that Harris and Sumera had been together before the killings.
In August 2025, a jury convicted Michael A. Harris on two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Alexxis Eymard and David Sumera. The following month, a Jefferson Parish judge sentenced Harris, then 36, to two consecutive life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole or probation. He also received a concurrent 20-year sentence for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The murder weapon, however, was not the pistol Harris had at the time of his arrest and has not been recovered.
