Myrtle Griffin, a 44-year-old woman from Marrero, Louisiana, tragically lost her life on August 30, 1982. She was the mother of Sheila Thomas, a deputy sheriff, and the grandmother of Chantelle Osborne, a four-year-old girl who also perished in the incident. Myrtle Griffin was shot by Leslie Lowenfield, a former boyfriend of her daughter, Sheila Thomas. The incident occurred at the home of Sheila Thomas, where Lowenfield barged in and opened fire, killing Myrtle Griffin and four others.
