Michael Louviere, a 26-year-old white male, was a Westwego police officer who tragically lost his life on January 20, 2017, in Marrero, Louisiana. Louviere, a U.S. Marine veteran who served in Afghanistan, had joined the police force in July 2015. On the morning of his death, Louviere was on his way home after completing his shift when he encountered what appeared to be a traffic accident. As he stopped to assist, he was shot in the head and killed while still in his uniform.
