Marquis Thomas Jr., a 9-year-old African American boy from Marrero, Louisiana, tragically lost his life on February 13, 2019. Marquis was a student at Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School and was known for his love of basketball and riding his hoverboard. On the night of his death, Marquis was at home when he was fatally shot in the head.
