On May 18, 2024, 17-year-old Dontrell Pierre from Marrero, Louisiana, was fatally shot in a double shooting incident. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (JPSO) reported that deputies responded to multiple gunfire reports around 8 p.m. near Rue Louis Philippe and Westwood Drive.
