In the winter of 2020, the life of Jyerius Williams, a 30-year-old African American male, was violently cut short in Marrero, Louisiana. On December 27th, law enforcement responded to a call at a residence on Sayers Drive. Inside, they discovered Williams unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene, turning a quiet residential street into the center of a homicide investigation.

Sheriff's Office quickly began piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting. As investigators delved into Williams' life, a narrative of a troubled relationship began to emerge. The focus of the investigation soon turned to his ex-girlfriend, Subrina Honore, and a man named Arthur Thomas. The relationship between Williams and Honore was described as tumultuous, marked by threats and ongoing disputes. A significant point of contention was reportedly the paternity of Honore's newborn child, which she claimed was Williams'.
Within days of the murder, authorities announced the arrests of two suspects. Subrina Honore, 32, of New Orleans, and Arthur Thomas, 31, of Marrero, were taken into custody. Investigators alleged that on the night of the killing, Honore and Thomas conspired and went to Williams' residence to confront him. Witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots and seeing the pair flee the scene. Based on witness testimony and other evidence gathered during their investigation, both Honore and Thomas were charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. They were subsequently booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna and held without bail as they awaited trial.
