Melvin Brady, a 5-year-old African American boy, tragically lost his life on August 2, 2016, in Marrero, Louisiana. The incident occurred when Melvin and his 9-year-old brother were playing in a bedroom closet and discovered a loaded handgun. As the older brother handled the firearm, it accidentally discharged, striking Melvin in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
