In a tragic turn of events, LaQuetra Pidgeon, a 34-year-old Black / African American woman, died on December 7, 2017, two days after being shot in what police have described as a domestic murder-suicide in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A mother of three, Pidgeon was a respected corrections officer at Angola Prison.
