In the late days of 2019, the life of Gregory John Corcoran Jr., a 40-year-old man, was brought to a tragic and violent end in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His death on December 13, 2019, would soon become part of a larger, more chilling narrative of violence that had gripped a local neighborhood.
On that December day, the bodies of Gregory Corcoran and a 53-year-old woman, Christina Fawn Fowler Mcgraw, were discovered underneath an overpass in the 100 block of South 16th Street.
Both had been shot to death. The brazenness of the daytime double homicide sent a wave of shock and concern through the community, prompting an immediate and intensive investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
As detectives pieced together the evidence, the case was aided by crucial community involvement. A tip from Crime Stoppers, combined with evidence collected at the scene, pointed investigators toward a single suspect believed to be responsible for the deaths of Corcoran and Fowler. The investigation soon revealed an even darker picture, linking the same suspect to another killing that occurred just two weeks later.
The culmination of the police work led to an arrest in early January 2020. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The charges were severe, reflecting the gravity of the crimes, and included two counts of First-Degree Murder for the deaths of Gregory Corcoran and Christina Fowler, as well as a charge of Second-Degree Murder for another homicide.
