On a January evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of 28-year-old Kourtney Thomas was tragically cut short. On January 9, 2016, Thomas, an African American woman, was shot and killed in a vehicle in the 8600 block of Coy Avenue. Another woman in the vehicle was also wounded in the shooting but survived her injuries. The incident was the first homicide recorded in Baton Rouge in 2016.
Investigators quickly identified 38-year-old Leethel White, also known as 'Lee Lee,' as the suspect
in the fatal shooting. According to law enforcement, the shooting appeared to be an 'execution-style' killing that occurred during a drug deal. Authorities allege that Thomas and her friend had picked up White and driven him to an apartment complex. White reportedly went inside and returned with a gun, shooting both women. A warrant was issued for White's arrest on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
In the years following the shooting, Leethel White has remained a fugitive from justice. He is believed to have connections to a gang known as the 'Big Money Block Boyz.' The U.S. Marshals Service has taken up the fugitive investigation and placed White on its 15 Most Wanted list. A substantial reward of $25,000 has been offered for information leading to his arrest. Despite reported sightings in Atlanta, Georgia, and connections in several other states, including California and Texas, White continues to evade capture. The search for Kourtney Thomas's alleged killer remains an active and ongoing investigation.
